4 rounds of interviews I actually thoroughly enjoyed interviewing with Substack. I really wanted to work there and everyone I spoke to was great. However, the lack of communication, timeline, and wait time to get back to me was unacceptable. I was holding out on other opportunities and constantly following up. It gave this sense of false hope when they really should have been more communicative throughout the process. The whole process took 4 months which is far too long and I felt strung along by them week after week that I hadn’t heard back or when I followed up and they gave vague responses when it came to timelines and next steps. Also after months of communicating with the hiring manager and team, my rejection email was from a noreply that was mass sent out and not specific to me. I spent a lot of time and energy through this application process and multiple interview rounds, so it was a really impersonal way to end communication after 4 months of back and forth.
