The interview process consisted of a standard non-technical on-site interview (which they had to reschedule after some internal miscommunication) followed by a programming home assignment. I have learned that there are two kinds of interviewers: the one who gives the impression of wanting to co-operatively investigate what contributions you could bring to the company, and the one who is clearly looking to throw you off balance. The Syntronic interviewer stood firmly in the latter camp. I'm sure this method has its merits, but it's definitely less conducive to a mutually favorable impression. Anyway, the main reason for my negative overall impression was the lack of personalized feedback following the procedure. Having spent 30 hours on their programming assignment (which I know I did pretty well), I had expected more than the standard "thank you for applying but we have decided not to proceed with your application" email. Having read the other reviews of the company, I now feel that I in all likelihood dodged a bullet. If any interviewee reading this is in a position to choose, I'm sure there are many other companies that will appreciate your talents better.
