The actual interview process from application to completion (not including the extensive wait after the final interview), was quick and included travel to the corporate office in Parsippany NJ. I had the pleasure of meeting some fabulous people including the hiring manager, the recruiter, several internal employees, and the interview scheduler. The interview process itself was professional. The in-person interview component was invasive as you would expect as it involved travel, time away from my current position and family, and intensive preparation with presentation requirement. Although I was told it would be a quick turn around (specifically, a few days) because they were moving “fast,” I would instead not receive any update for nearly three weeks, despite my efforts, at which point I was informed the position went to an internal candidate. My feedback would be to be transparent about internal candidacy, if possible. It is industry known that the position nearly always goes to internal candidates. Although we always take experiences and learning opportunities away from interviews, due to the travel component, I felt as though this was an inefficient use of my own time and energy. With that said, I do appreciate the opportunity and was not surprised by the outcome, in the end, due to the long absence of information.
