J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 6 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Thunkable (Toronto, ON) en déc. 2023

      Entretien

At first it seemed like a good process. I had a good initial interview with the recruiter and was told of the process I should expect. The whole process was as follows: - Initial interview with the recruiter, standard interview. - Second interview with someone from CS. Pretty similar to the first interview but a little more focus on what the job be. Also asked to provide examples of documentation and reports I have done as part of the job would be to provide users with documentation and guides in both written and video form. - Third step was a project. In my case I needed to design an app with on their platform that would be for contractors to get quick estimates on their bids. It involved incorporating an third part API to pull price estimates on materials and labor for their bids. - Third interview (fourth step) was a more technical interview to go over the project and then some technical questions. There were 3 people in the interview, the same CS person from interview 2, a second CS Engineer and a Frontend Engineer. The CS Engineer was very impressed with my documentation, guides, and some video recording I provided. The Frontend Engineer didn't seem to have any concerns with my app and seemed pleased with it although it was not as easy to get a read. I was asked a couple basic questions like how would I update my app in the future, and I had some great additions to make the app better (keep in mind I went very hard (12+ hours) on this app making it efficient with a great UI and optimized for the user to not cause excessive API requests). I was then asked a question directly related to my app and how I would need to scale it if there were more users. Since the app stored everything locally and the API requests were to some 3rd party, there was no need to scale anything about my app if there was a bigger userbase. This was apparently their deciding factor to not put me through. - Fourth interview (fifth step) would have been an interview with the CEOs. Now I can't put the full blame on Thunkable for their interview process because I was told what to expect, but how they do interviews is terrible to put it bluntly. They give you two base level interviews before doing any technical interview and before that they give you a project that, if you want to get put through, will take you over 10 hours easily (learning how to use their no code app building software along with integrating an API and making the app work well). This method seems to take advantage of people like me that are in a tough spot trying to find work as an Engineer in the current economy. I have no clue what will happen with my app, I know it was really good and for all I know they may use it as one of their template apps without compensating me. If you get an interview with Thunkable I would still recommend pursuing it since the company itself seems like a great place to work with very friendly employees and a cool job to have. Just take caution when you go through the process since if you make it as far as I did it will seem like such a waste of time and just a bad overall experience with their interview structure.
