I applied online and was contacted by an internal recruiter for an initial phone interview. Recruiter was courteous and professional, and the interview was conducted in a conversational style. Very positive first impression. I then had a phone interview with the Wilkes-Barre sales manager, also professional courteous and most importantly genuine. Going in based on my research I had a very positive impression of UniFirst, and my 2 phone interviews only enhanced my positive opinion . I was then asked to come in for a in person interview with the same sales manager. The Wilkes-Barre sales manager in one any sales professional would want to work for, professional , intelligent ,a-value driven and an overall good person.

What do you like about sales and what do you dislike?

The interview process was extensive and involved multiple stages. I first interviewed with a recruiter, followed by a virtual interview with the sales manager. That was then followed by an in person interview with the sales manager and the plant GM, which included delivering a PowerPoint presentation. After that, I completed a final interview with the regional sales manager via Teams.
Approximately 30 minutes after the final interview, the recruiter called to express strong enthusiasm about extending an offer and mentioned awareness that I had another offer pending. I was transparent about the competing offer from a direct competitor and was told the sales manager would follow up the next day.
During that follow up call, the offer was withdrawn, with the explanation that they could not come close to the competing compensation. There was no opportunity for discussion or negotiation, which was surprising given the role was a sales position and the job posting referenced competitive pay.
Overall, the process took approximately two weeks and required me to take time off work to attend the in person interview. Given the outcome, the time investment did not feel respected. Based on my experience, I would recommend clarifying compensation alignment earlier in the process to avoid similar situations for future candidates. It seems like their concern is not with quality sales reps. It's with who they can pay the lowest amount.

The first phone interview was simply a back & forth on my sales experience, like most sales jobs do, then they went over the sales position & compensation. Overall, it was an easy process.

I was contacted by a recruiter and scheduled for in person interview, At the interview I had to read a phone script .
A couple days after the recruiter called to set up another interview, I was instructed I needed to prepare a power point presentation which took a good part of my weekend . At the interview I was told my presentation wasn’t needed for the interview and it wasn’t viewed. I feel my time was wasted in this interview process.
