      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 5 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Unity (Montréal, QC) en juil. 2018

      Entretien

I received an unsolicited e-mail from a Unity Recruiter on July 5. That started an e-mail conversation that resulted in a scheduled phone interview. During this time, a new series of videos was released on Unity's YouTube channel, many of which were related to VR and their new Industrial Division. I watch all of them and took notes for follow-up research and for discussion points for subsequent interviews. On July 11, one of Unity's recruiters called me and we discussed the position, my experience and how well I might fit in at Unity. Afterwards, through e-mails, we scheduled the next interview. Again, during this time, I researched more topics of AR, VR, C# and Unity in general. On July 17, one of Unity's managers and I attended a video call together where we chatted a bit. I ended up sharing my screen and showcased some of the VR skills that I had developed. As the interview wound up, he said that he would e-mail a test and gave me a 48 hour time frame in which to complete it. There was a mix of content on the test, and I finished all but the 2 coding challenges after work. Both coding challenges contained aspects of C# that I had never used, so a fair bit of research went into them. Once I was pleased with the result, I submitted the results. The next day, one of Unity's recruiters phoned with the manager's feedback and to schedule the next interview. On July 24, I had another video interview, this time with 2 developers. We covered much of the same topics as the manager and then they both seemed interested to have me share my screen again and walk them through the VR project that I had created. They were both very polite and seemed genuinely interested in what I had created. The following day, the recruiter and I spoke on the phone and in e-mails to arrange for me to attend their Montreal office the following week. On August 3, I attended the Unity offices in Montreal for a 1 hour interview with a Director. Afterwards, the recruiter came back in and we we talked about the items of a job offer that would best suit me. That discussion was followed by a tour of the offices and lunch. Afterwards, we stood outside on the sidewalk and simply chatted. On August 6, the recruiter called and asked me to supply 2 references. (1) A manager and (2) a colleague. I e-mailed the contact information to her that afternoon. On August 7, I received an e-mail and a phone call stating that the referenced went well and that they had begun constructing an official offer letter. On August 8, I received the electronic offer documentation, reviewed them and digitally signed them. On August 9, Unity's HR group had me all setup in their system and I was entering all of the typical new hire details into their online tool. I am SUPER-EXCITED for my start date to finally get here and to begin my new career at unity!
