J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 4 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Verkada (San Mateo, CA) en janv. 2023
Entretien
The interviews were completely different from what the recruiter told me to expect. They didn't follow the guidelines that I was told they would. The first two round were technical and over zoom and third and final round was on-site at the Verkada headquarters in San Mateo. I was told that the on-site would be with 3 specific people and they didn't follow that either. One of the interviewers was absent and was substituted with someone random who wasn't even on the team (This random person's interview was pointless and they didn't ask me anything related to the job or my experience. Some questions they asked were - What is your favorite song? and Which video games do you play?). Throughout the onsite interview and lunch, they acted as if they were inclined towards a hire with a lot of false affirmations and promises. A week after the interview I reached out for an update and was informed that even though I had a 'great presence during the interviews, there were unfortunately a few technical topics that fell short.' Going into details about the interviews: - The first interview over zoom went really well - but again they didn't even interview me for the entire hour allotted. They interviewed me for 15-20 mins and then spent another 20 mins just chatting, which made the call end 20 mins early. I passed this round. - The second interview was supposed to be completely behavioral and based on troubleshooting experiences. However, again these guidelines were not followed at all during the interview. The whole interview was technical questions not related to troubleshooting and no behavioral whatsoever. I passed this round. - On-site interview: One of the people that were scheduled to interview me was replaced with someone on a completely different team. I was not notified about this prior to the interview and found out about this at the interview. This interview consisted of 3 rounds. First round went really well and the interviewer thought I was 'fantastic' and 'extremely suitable for the position'. Second round was the complete opposite. I was asked really difficult technical questions which were again not related to troubleshooting. The interviewer's responses were hard to interpret and overall a bad experience. The way the interviewer asked questions were confusing to a point that I wasn't able to understand them and answer in spite of knowing the answer. The took me out for lunch where they flaunted about the company and the employee benefits. Tried to convince me that I was going to get the job and that I should pick them from other potential offers. The interviewer that supposedly declined hiring me had joined us for lunch and participated in inflating the idea of me getting the job. I would say that this is a waste of time as the whole process took over a month and required traveling across the country for me.

Everything was explained beforehand, no surprise. The whole process was very clear, very detailed. The goal is not to trick you, but to test you in a normal environment. It’s a 4 round process, the last one is onsite. Everyone is really nice and welcoming.
Yeah, the screening was very easy. Just asked why I am interested and what I want to do in the future of my life. I have not done the tech interview I am filling this out so I can see what other people say. I hope I do well!!
