Four-hour timed meteorology knowledge and forecasting exam required, unpaid. It was a comprehensive exam which took the full allotted time. Asks you to analyze skew-t soundings, give a throuough synoptic/mesoscale discussion, and handwrite/scan a writing example in cursive.
Did not receive any feedback on exam 10 days later, and was informed they were moving forward with other applicants. This job has been posted for the better part of a year, indicating a highly selective screening process, potentially high turnover or talent farming with no intent to hire.
Advertised salary of $43,000/yr is not commensurate to educational qualifications or job responsibilities.
Questions d'entretien [1]
Question 1
- Write a comprehensive forecast for two cities
- Write a 150-word forecast for the same cities in the format of a text message.
- Give description of synoptic and mesoscale features
- Analyze skew-t soundings, identifying isotherms and areas of instability
The interview required a long overview and detailed weather forecast. Additionally, a couple of interview sessions were also required. This was done remotely over the phone and internet. I did not proceed far by personal choice.

Once I applied, it took a while to get back to me. First, there is a forecast test that you must complete and return to them via email. Then be prepared for a minimum of two phone interviews before they talk to you in person or offer a position. Also be prepared for a while in between interviews and to be called on the weekend.
