Met with recruiter via phone interview yesterday (Wednesday). It was a nice call and she said she'd pass my info and the call notes to the hiring manager for review. She then sent me an email with details regarding their benefits package (providers, PTO, etc.), the name of the hiring manager (who I hadn't met yet) and some links to read up on the product I'd be implementing. All of this before even finding out if the hiring manager even wanted to meet with me. I took that as a sign of confidence that she believed I'd be moving forward for at least another round. Less than 24 hours later (today), I get a canned rejection email. I have no issue with them deciding to move forward with other candidates. However, the sloppiness of sending me benefits info and the name of the decision-maker before I have met them or scheduled a call with them, only to get rejected, looks very sloppy/unprofessional! Maybe next time, don't send hiring manager names, reading material and benefits info unless you are serious about the candidate.
