Interviewed for what was basically a data analyst/junior product manager role pitched for people with a few years of experience in economic consulting or some similar quantitative role. Application process was simple, sent over my resume and cover letter and heard back from HR within a few days about setting up an interview.
First interview was 30 minutes with one of the top people in the company. Talked more about the role and my experience. Very general, a basic fit interview. It's a company that's doing cool stuff, basically next generation equity research on internet retailers.
Next step was a take home data analysis project that involved looking at some proprietary data and drawing conclusions from it. It took the better part of my weekend to complete; it was definitely a very in-depth task. Required some advanced Excel knowledge.
Didn't get the option to move forward after that. I would have appreciated it if they provided some feedback on what was wrong with my data analysis work, as I thought it was pretty decent (and it really was very time consuming), though I understand that they can't give feedback to everyone.
