I went for the Zycus walk‑in drive at SEEPZ and honestly the whole experience was very frustrating and mismanaged. One day before (8th May) I already confirmed my attendance and sent all required documents for gate pass – Aadhaar, photo, email, phone – to the facilities.
On the interview day (9th May) I reached the gate around 10:00 AM. There was no clear notice or instruction anywhere about the gate pass process. Many candidates, including me, were confused. Only after talking to other candidates I came to know we need to download an app and apply for a temporary pass. Some people said they received an app link earlier, but I didn’t see any proper communication about it from company side.
I applied for the temporary pass and then just waited. The status was showing “pending for company admin” for hours. Around 1:30 PM, I even mailed them saying it’s been pending for about hours, but no proper reply came. We kept sitting and waiting outside in the Mumbai heat. There was almost no proper seating – many of us were sitting on the steps near the gate. There are very few shops outside, not even basic water arrangement from the company.
The gate itself is basically a entrance area with scanner and check‑in, not a proper room. The ceiling there was in bad condition, some parts peeling and looking like it can fall anytime. There is some shade in front of the gate, but still overall it doesn’t feel safe or like a professional place for calling so many freshers. In peak afternoon, with the heat and no fan, it was really uncomfortable.
I waited from 10:00 AM till around 4:00 PM at the gate without getting a clear update. I also tried calling the given contact number multiple times, but it was unreachable. After I went back home, first I got an email saying my last gate pass request was rejected because of “wrong time selected” and I should submit a new request with different “Person to Meet” name. Then later, the temporary pass request in the app actually got approved and I received the QR code also – but by that time I was already at home and the walk‑in was basically over. So the pass was of no use.
This whole situation wasted my entire day and also affected many other candidates who were standing or sitting there without clarity. The main problem is not just that my pass got rejected or approved late, but that the communication was extremely slow and the process was not explained properly to candidates in advance. For a big company, I was expecting at least clear instructions, some basic sitting arrangement and respect for candidates’ time.
Advice to management:
Please improve coordination with SEEPZ gate and facilities team, share gate pass instructions clearly in the email/WhatsApp before the drive, keep one reachable contact person on walk‑in day, and provide basic facilities like seating and water. Freshers come with a lot of hope; at least their time and basic comfort should be respected.
