There's three tiers to the interview process. First, you complete an unpaid trial, where you write an article over the course of a week. Then, you have a (pretty informal and laid-back) call with one of the staff members. After that, you have a three-day paid trial, where the aim is to complete four articles. It seems like they're more focused on your writing and research ability than conducting a traditional interview.
