Our team in London recently hosted an event with 100 Women In Finance – a network of finance professionals committed to empowering women to achieve their professional potential at every career stage – to discuss the topic of ‘Treating Nature and Nature Investment as an Asset Class’. Natural resources such as water, trees and animals are the planet’s engine to food security, energy production, construction, and transport to name a few, making nature undeniably essential to life and our livelihoods – however, the World Wildlife Fund reports that we are currently using around 25% more natural resources than we can sustain to keep life viable on the planet. This unsustainable consumption raises the critical question: how do we change our practices to ensure natural resources are preserved for future generations? The Citco group of companies (Citco) inaugural event with 100 Women in Finance addressed this pressing issue – with the pivotal role of investors and financial institutions in driving investment flows towards a nature-driven economy at center stage.
