To celebrate Women’s History Month, our Diversity & Inclusion Council reached out to our leaders at HealthPlanOne to share their advice, experience, and motivation that helped them become the leaders they are today. VP of Sales Jennifer Girdler reflects on her rise and the person who helped her get there. “I had a Leader who I disliked working for over a period of many years. It wasn't until I left that company and furthered my career here at HPOne, that I realized she had actually molded me into the Leader I had become. Although it was painful at times, she was tough and pushed me to be a better leader by creating a place of accountability and pushing me outside of my comfort zone on a regular basis. I thank her for playing a huge role in making me the Leader I am today! If you work for me, you have heard me say 'If you feel comfortable all of the time, you are not growing' and this is where that comes from. I have also encountered many great Leaders here at HPOne who I look up to and learn from to continue my growth!

LeKesha Gonzalez, Director of Sales, offers her advice to young women on how to prioritize learning and growth in their careers. “I have found it to be best practice to schedule continuous learning to ensure that I get it in. As a young woman in the industry, you are not going to be able to sustain pouring into others and their development, if you are not pouring into yourself. Make it a goal to learn something new each week. Give yourself 30 minutes for development and track it as an accomplishment at the end of the year.”
