The women of Kohler are BOLD LEADERS and HISTORY MAKERS. 🙌 This #WomensHistoryMonth, we’re celebrating awe-inspiring associates like Stacey Remington—who has blazed a trail for women in manufacturing. From casting rover to supervisor to senior project analyst, Stacey has explored several manufacturing roles over the past two decades. She has also taken advantage of our tuition reimbursement program to earn her master’s degree, becoming one of Kohler’s continuous improvement specialists in the process. “There’s a common misconception about women in manufacturing; that we aren’t strong enough or lack assertion,” said Stacey. Her mission is to fight this stereotype. “In my 20 years in manufacturing, I’ve seen many examples where women excel in their positions and demonstrate their advanced capabilities and aptitudes. In celebration of this year’s #BlackHistoryMonth theme “African Americans and the Arts,” our BLK Catalyst business resource group sponsored a new display at the Kohler Design Center in Kohler, Wisconsin, from Oakland-based artist Woody De Othello. “We wanted to provide a platform to celebrate and honor the work of up-and-coming artists like Woody,” said BLK Catalyst Culture Committee Lead Maya E. “After hearing how he wants to not only make art that is positive, but meaningful and healing, too, we knew we wanted to showcase his work for our fellow Kohler associates and the community.” De Othello is a former Arts/Industry artist-in-residence, where he spent three months in the Kohler Pottery in 2020 collaborating with skilled Kohler manufacturing craftspeople to explore forms and concepts not possible in his own studio. The displayed sculpture, titled “Starting Off,” is part of a series of animated and cartoonish interpretations of everyday objects. #AltogetherKohler #RepresentationMatters
An artist in our midst. ✨ 🎨 🖌️ When Malcolm Smith joined our Huntsville, AL, team back in 1997, he brought an unexpected talent that goes far beyond the tubs and showers he helps build. “I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t drawing something somewhere,” explained the self-taught Malcolm. “When I started at Kohler, I was doing portraits of people. Word got around the plant, and I was asked if I could do a mural.” The rest is history. Malcolm created two incredible murals—one of local Huntsville landmarks in 2000 and another of the manufacturing process in 2010. Each took about a month to complete. More than two decades later, Huntsville associates are still enjoying the incredible masterpieces. “From time to time, new team members will ask me if I know who painted the murals. In honor of Kohler Co.’s 150th anniversary in 2023, our Kohler China team announced a five-year commitment to supporting 150 bathroom improvements across rural China. 🚽 🇨🇳 In partnership with the Shanghai Charity Foundation, the program will provide safe, comfortable, and water-saving bathroom products to rural areas in Yunnan Province, along with installation guidance and ongoing maintenance support. In its early stages, the rural revitalization efforts have prioritized schools, hospitals, and health centers. Since the launch in mid-2023, Kohler China teams have completed installations at six hospitals, with another seven hospitals and six schools on track to be done in April 2024. #SafeWaterForAll #BelievingInBetter #SustainableLiving
SPIRIT OF THE DRAGON 🐉🧧 We’re celebrating the Lunar New Year with a new collaboration from Kohler Original Recipe Chocolates and our Asian Resources of Kohler (ARK) business resource group. Featuring a blend of passion fruit and mango ganache, each chocolate is adorned with a golden seal—one symbolizing good fortune and the other bearing the emblem of the Year of the Dragon. The limited-edition collection was developed in collaboration with ARK leaders Jocelyn Jia and Yutong Wu to honor Asian tradition and celebrate good fortune in the new year. “This project not only promotes diversity and inclusivity but represents Kohler’s innovation in new cultures and markets,” said Jia. “I see it as a model for future collaborations.” #AltogetherKohler #LunarNewYear
