OhioHealth Berger Hospital is continuing its commitment to enhancing patient care with a series of major investments in 2025, building on upgrades initiated last year. A $10 million surgery project announced last spring is now moving into its second phase. The first phase added a new operating room equipped with cutting-edge robotic technology and introduced upgrades to existing operating rooms to ensure consistency and excellence for both patients and surgical staff. “The advancements we’re making at Berger Hospital reflect our ongoing dedication to delivering the highest quality care to our patients and providing an exceptional environment for our care teams,” said Casey Liddy, President of Berger Hospital. “These projects are about more than upgrading facilities and equipment—they are about meeting the needs of our community for years to come.” Phase two, which started Monday, focuses on the expansion and modernization of the hospital’s pre-surgery areas, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and waiting rooms. These enhancements include private pre- and post-operative rooms, an expanded surgery waiting area and improved wayfinding to simplify navigation for patients and families.
“Empowered to Serve: Lifting as We Climb” was the focus this week as our WE DREAM and WE LEAD Business Resource Groups (BRG) hosted a day of service and learning in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King emphasized the importance of uplifting marginalized communities and providing opportunities for people to live with dignity – a core value of OhioHealth. With this value in mind, the BRGs partnered with Dress for Success Columbus to support the organization’s mission and hear from their President and CEO, Habiba Bankston.

We’ve opened a new clinic in New Albany to help women navigate the unique challenges of midlife – including hormonal and physical changes and mental health support. The OhioHealth Menopause and Midlife Clinic offers specialty care in a compassionate environment to those who are premenopausal, perimenopausal or postmenopausal. “Women in this stage of life are incredibly busy and fulfill multiple roles: partner, mother, daughter, employee, and many other titles. We tend to care for ourselves last,” said Pragna Patel, MD, FACOG. “There is a sort of void in seeing an OBGYN once done having children. Also, historically women have been told this is a phase of life that happens, and you just need to deal with the symptoms, but there are so many options that can improve your overall health and quality of life.”
OhioHealth is proud to announce plans for a new comprehensive outpatient cancer center. This future facility will focus equally on expanding access to complex cancer care and improving patient experience. The center will be built in the current location of the south parking lot on OhioHealth’s administrative campus across from OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital. Construction will include nearly doubling the size of the existing building on the site, renovations to the current structure and a new parking garage. “This comprehensive cancer center will increase access to care for patients who are dealing with complicated and aggressive cancers,” said Praveen Dubey, MD, OhioHealth VP Cancer Care. “Cancer is scary. With the creation of this facility, we are making care more convenient for our patients and demonstrating that we know their care is a combination of clinical care and the experience every time they interact with us. This facility will provide a place for central Ohio residents and an option for our patients in the region if they need more complex care outside of their community.” The project also expands OhioHealth’s long-standing relationship with Columbus Oncology and Hematology. Columbus Oncology and Hematology will be co-located within the building, leasing about 30,000 square feet for a medical oncology clinic, infusion and pharmacy. Work is slated to begin in the spring of 2026, with the goal to open for patient care in the spring of 2029.
OhioHealth Pickerington Methodist Hospital is celebrating one year of serving and investing in the community! And what an impactful year it has been – becoming the first and only trauma center in Fairfield County, launching 90 smart rooms with virtual nurse care, employing 1,060 associates, delivering more than 900 babies and so much more.
OhioHealth is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive. Our Disability Awareness Wellness Network (DAWN), an associate-led business resource group, hosted an event this week to help raise awareness around the topic of disability employment within the organization. Attendees learned ways to promote an inclusive work environment, how to support co-workers with disabilities and heard personal stories from associates and a patient.
We’re proud to share the OhioHealth Physician Group has achieved Gold+ recognition for the 2024 Target: BP initiative by American Heart Association and the American Medical Association. This designation highlights our work to improve blood pressure rates and reduce the number of patients who have heart attacks or strokes. The Gold+ standard is only achieved when there is 70% or greater blood pressure control among our adult patients.
