Parenta Trust is the charitable foundation of The Parenta Group, dedicated to improving access to education for disadvantaged children worldwide. Hundreds of young children in rural Uganda who currently learn in temporary structures are set to benefit from a new purpose-built nursery school. Funded by the Parenta Trust, the new Early Childhood Development Centre in Nakapinyi Village will provide safe classrooms and a stable learning environment. This project is vital for ensuring children in Uganda receive a quality education from the very start. The new nursery facility will serve the community surrounding St Stephen’s Nakapinyi Primary School. Currently, this school in Uganda educates 675 pupils, including 155 nursery-aged children. Many of these young learners are taught in temporary wooden structures with dusty floors. These buildings frequently flood during heavy rains, forcing the school to close and halting the progress of early education in this part of Uganda. Dr Allan Presland, Founder of the Parenta Trust and CEO of the Parenta Group, said: “Every child deserves the best start in life. The community of Nakapinyi has an extraordinary commitment to education, but the youngest children in this region of Uganda must learn in facilities that simply aren’t safe. We are proud to create a permanent nursery school where children can thrive.”
