🗓️ Today is the biannual meeting of the ProCanAid consortium, which takes place in Zaragoza, Spain. As the central coordinator, we are leading the project together with our partners from the Medical Research Institute La Fe (IIS La Fe) and Universidad de Zaragoza, who are committed to driving a transformative change in this field. A major milestone of this project is the development of a new model for automatic segmentation of neurovascular bundles. Scientific evidence shows that the involvement of neurovascular bundles is related to #ProstateCancer staging and clinical variables such as overall survival or the development of metastasis, and we are currently working and advancing on this model. On #ClinicalTrialsDay, we recognize the complex process a new drug goes through from conception to market distribution, a path that requires considerable resources and time. With an average timeline of 12 to 15 years, the process involves extensive research, meticulous testing and lengthy regulatory approvals. However, the drug development landscape is evolving, embracing the transformative potential of #AI. Tools based on #MachineLearning could further accelerate regulatory reviews and improve real-time patient monitoring via wearable devices, pushing the boundaries of efficient drug development. Among others, Quibim is developing an AI algorithm to interpret PET/CT scans, evaluating the efficacy of novel radiotracers targeting CD8 receptors in tumors. This innovation promises to improve immunotherapy response predictions and advance clinical development. Read our most recent blog post https://bit.ly/3QRZVyS, in which our CMO Glen Weiss, MD, MBA, explores how AI is streamlining workflows and reducing costs by transforming drug development and clinical trials.
