    Clients can be challenging at times; Over-time can be hard but you will be well compensated for that

    Avantages

    FAST does a great job taking care of its employees. This is certainly not a comprehensive list of all the pros, but these are a couple things that stand out to me:

    - FAST has great health insurance/benefits

    - You don't have to be a manager to make manager-type pay. If you are a good employee you will get paid like one even if you don't have the skills/desire to move into management.

    - FAST does a great job encouraging its employees to get involved in their community; there are abundant volunteer opportunities and fun local events to get involved in.

    There are also a few things worth mentioning that have both an upside and a downside:

    - There is not a lot of room for advancement in software development; many of the skills learned are not applicable outside of FAST. However, there are a few skills learned that can be taken anywhere (not just software development positions). These include teamwork/communication, problem solving/logic, SQL, and BASIC coding skills.

    - You will work right alongside the state workers. This can be frustrating, especially during the beginning of a project when trust is still being built. However, this can be very rewarding as you begin to work through problems together and formulate solutions.

    - FAST can require long hours depending on what part of the project you are currently in. You are expected to be able/willing to put in extra hours, sometimes on short notice. However, FAST also compensates for any overtime fairly.

    - FAST also expects employees to be able/willing to move (sometimes with very short notice). This can be difficult with working spouses/children, but it can also be a great opportunity to travel/move at no expense to you.

    If you are hired as an implementation consultant, it is important to remember that you are a consultant. There may be days that you spend most/all of the day coding/configuring the software, but you are expected to be able to consult with the state workers during this process.

    Inconvénients

    There isn't much to complain about with FAST, but there does tend to be a focus on alcohol/partying, and if that isn't your thing, it can be difficult to be involved in company activities. To be fair, that doesn't mean that there are never activities that don't involve alcohol, and management is always looking for new ideas. If you have activities that you would like to see happen, you are more than free to organize something or to communicate your ideas to the appropriate person.

    There is a great focus on physical health which is fantastic! However, the job can be stressful and the hours long. It would be nice to see that same sort of focus on mental health and support for employees that are struggling.

    Avantages

    Social events are larger sites. Lots of company bonding when there is a partner present. Partners are all personally and professionally philanthropic and are genuinely decent, kind people (no airs at all!).

    Inconvénients

    Smaller sites tend to be a little ignored, especially if there is no partner on-site. Seems larger sites have budgets for social events but smaller sites get very little.
    Have to move every 2-3 years, which is difficult with spouse and children changing schools. Ok to move when young and single and enjoying travel but much harder as you age.
    There are vast variances in the cost of living from site to site so it's hard to know if you are getting ahead and saving enough or not.

    Try to treat all employees the same and keep in mind that those in the smaller sites feel a little left out sometimes.

    Avantages

    They offer some of the best benefits you will find as compared to industry standard. Even as the company grows, they still keep that family feel as well as maintain their infamous "work hard play hard culture."

    Inconvénients

    You may be expected to move, every 2-3 years, but I don't really view it as a con, since it gives the opportunity to live all over the world.

    You also may be expected to work lots of overtime hours as the project gets closer to the production go live date. However, they do provide additional compensation for anything over 8 hours a day or weekends/holidays. Most companies in this industry don't provide this type of benefit, so once again it really ins't a con. Though, the amount of hours required can easily burn you out if you are not careful.

    Avantages

    - Amazing benefits (fully paid by employer) including covering benefits for domestic partners (criteria is living together for at least 1 year)
    - Fun and friendly culture, family feel
    - Private company so not beholden to shareholders (subjective, but I think this is great)
    - Very successful company--no concerns about the future
    - Every day I am proud to work for a company like FAST

    Inconvénients

    - There are some growing pains as FAST grows in size, but there is definitely an effort to mitigate these challenges
    - The dynamic and culture between working on-site and working at the Dev Center is very different; this is not necessarily a con, but it could be if you'd prefer one over the other
    - Keep in mind that there is a sizable assignability component to your salary if you are working on-site for your ability to relocate (but not if you are long term at the Dev Center)
    - While benefits overall are extremely strong, the 401k could be better (no % matching; there is a contribution through profit sharing each year, however)

    Keep up the great work! It is obvious you care about the company, your employees, and the product. Never stop looking for areas to improve as we grow in size.

    Avantages

    This is an amazing company to work for! FAST really takes care of, and cares about their employees. I've never been nervous to ask questions when I don't understand or need assistance, they foster a wonderful and comfortable work environment. Everyone works hard and strives to do their best. The work can be hard, but everyone is all in it together and wants to create the best product possible. I feel like I really make a difference here!

    Inconvénients

    Sometimes the hours can be crazy, but everyone works hard together so it's not so bad!

    -FAST really is the best at what it does

    Inconvénients

    -No 401k match.
    -Sometimes developers don't take you seriously.
    -Much of the culture is based on alcohol and partying. While that's good for some people, it's not always great for people with families. That being said, some of these things depend a lot on the project you're on.
    -Culture of more overtime is better, even if you can do your job within your 40-hour workweek.
    -Sometimes moves don't make sense.
    -Even if you move up in responsibility, you don't necessarily get additional compensation. For example, you could become a team lead and stay at the same pay as when you were just a team member.
    -Paternal leave is only 1 week

    Conseils à la direction

    Keep doing most of what you're doing. Get feedback from team leads before moving people to a new project. Change your retirement plan to a match and go to a better company, like Fidelity or Charles Schwab. Make your paternal leave more competetive
