Avantages
With economy down, it is employment until the next round of lay-offs come around. There are still a few decent people left.
Inconvénients
Morale low-top management passes along that downsizing finished, only to come along a few weeks later and lay-off more people. Work doesn't go away, just absorbed by those remaining. Most salaried people worked 50 to 60 hours a week with AB, now 60 to 70 hours a week. One comment--Its still light out,you don't need to leave yet. Salary bands lowered, so if you are above the top of the band, you won't get a raise. Previous posting mentioned ability to get promoted with willingness to move--look at company demograhics, very few people with company over 40 years old.
