J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris plus d'une semaine. J'ai passé un entretien chez AVL (Stockholm, ) en juin 2022
Entretien
First, a brief introduction of each side.
Second, a couple of questions about the projects and intern process.
Third, some questions about my thought about future development.
Last, some regular questions. I also asked some questions about the job. They also wanted some references.
J'ai postulé en ligne. J'ai passé un entretien chez AVL (Budapest)
Entretien
Beside the initial and the organizing HR conversations, the interview process consisted of two main rounds.
In the 1st round, usual topics was discussed: my professional backroung and motivation; the business domain of the company; as well as simple programming questions.
In the 2nd round, the company's ongoing projects were introduced. It was also detailed what roles the company would like to provide me with. Although the job was advertised to be a developer position, and I answered the programming questions in the 1st round correctly, the company proposed other types of roles to me. There were two options: (1) whether to work in a sort-of-business-analyst, sort-of-requirement-engineer role; (2) or to coordinate the local adaptation of a foreign team's code architecture, with the possibility of becoming a team lead in the near future (~1 year later).
I explained in both rounds that I did not want to leave the algorithm development and the coding activities behind. Thus, I did not accept any of the two, management-oriented role possibilities mentioned above.
It is a sad outcome that the company's international job portal indicates that I have withdrawn my application. This is misleading, because I was interested in the original, Functional Developer Engineer position - however, the company decided to deviate from the advertised tasks to other kinds of (much more management) role during my interview process.
