Applied online and was contacted by a recruiter for a phone screen approximately 1 week later. The recruiter was pleasant, professional, and informative, although a little rushed. I was contacted several days later and asked for an interview via Skype the following week. The interview was a total waste of time. The interviewer did not know who I was, or what position I had applied for or what recruiter I had been working with. It was obvious from the beginning he had not taken the time to review my resume and was not interested.
He launched into a not so inspiring speech about the company, all of which was basic information available on their website. He proceeded to go through the motions and ask his standard list of questions. He appeared to have found my resume during the interview and was reading it on his screen while interviewing me - (who knows though, he could have been reading his email) I asked several questions regarding the position to try and gauge if this was a fit for me. I was met with non- answers and a lot of talking around the subject with no real answers. It was obvious this was not going to be a fit and he thankfully wrapped it up. I was left with the impression his mind was made up before we even started. For the life of me I don't know why they even bothered. Total waste of my time which is irritating given the amount of effort candidates put into preparation.
The recruiting staff is excellent - the manager I dealt with was nice I'm sure but had no personality, and had no interest in me from the beginning. No chance to build a rapport - not conversational at all. Overall I'm thankful this turned out as it did. Originally I was excited at the prospect, perhaps I believed the press and videos about how fun and great it is to work there but have no desire to work for Atlassian after this experience.
