First they conduct a phone screen with the recruiter, followed by Zoom interviews with hiring manager and direct team. Writing assignment prior to third round. Writing assignment had two parts, one of which was writing a plan for a product that was launched the day the assignment was due (ie, free work). I declined to write that part of the assignment which ended the process.

Question 1
What are your successes and challenging situations? Why are you interested in joining the company?
Had an introductory call which turned into a 1 hour interview. I was curious to hear more about the role and was not given the information to know if this was the role I wanted
J'ai postulé via la recommandation d'un employé. Le processus a pris 3 mois. J'ai passé un entretien chez Datadog (New York, NY) en janv. 2023
Entretien
Had a total of 9 interviews, not including several conversations back and forth in addition to interviews. While everyone was very communicative, this process took several months (close to 3) which is beyond necessary. And after having a successful final interview, the recruiter called to inform me that the role no longer excited because the board is tightening up their purses. This was beyond their control, and they were apologetic. Just keep in mind right now that if you are interviewing, the role may cease to exist before you start or get the offer.

Question 1
The big challenge was the free project work they had me work on to assess my skills. And honestly, they have that plan now and I’d be shocked if they didn’t use my work.
J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 1 semaine. J'ai passé un entretien chez Datadog en août 2022
Entretien
I applied for the role in spring 2022 but was rejected. About three months later, the recruiter reached out and scheduled a screening for the same week. The screening went well, and she moved me to the next round - an interview with the hiring manager. The day before the interview, I received an email from the recruiter notifying me that they needed to reschedule the interview because "something came up" for the manager (sure, sure). I asked the recruiter the steps for rescheduling - no response. The day following the canceled interview, the recruiter called to let me know they were no longer moving my application forward.
I was annoyed but not disappointed because it would have been eight rounds or something (+ I was iffy about them rejecting my application, to begin with). That in itself tells me that it's not the right workplace for me - if it's going to take you eight rounds to confirm someone is the right fit, then you're the problem, not the candidate. Additionally, I am embarrassed for the hiring manager because we have mutual connections.
The recruiter was great. But it may be time for them to take down the job posting since they've been recruiting for this role for months - clearly, the hiring manager doesn't know what she wants and is just wasting everyone's time.
