1. 30 minute call introductory phone call with HR
2. Take home exam, they give you around 3 days to complete
3. T&S head grills your exam answers
4. 6 Hour, all-day round robin interviews with T&S/other department team members.
HR interview was a standard interest interview, the take home assignment was quite lengthy but was interesting to research, the grilling from the T&S head was a little scary but ultimately challenging and helped understand where this was going. My issue with this interview process came with the final round - the 6 hour on-site (now on Discord because of Covid) interview.
During this interview, they were very heavy on the theoretical policy questions - some of which were a little ludacris ("should the government have any say in placing accountability responsibilites on tech companies?" "Compare European governments approach to online regulation vsthe American government approach"- keep in mind this is a fairly entry level position mainly focused on customer service for the first 6 months). And a lot of these questions were actually repeat questions from my 3rd round interview. I couldn't really understand why they made me do 3 more rounds of policy interviews during my final rounds while I had already done an hour-long round with the head of T&S and impressed him enough to have him move me onto the end. For the questions that weren't policy based, they were essentially standard interview questions that should have been asked MUCH earlier in the process ("how do you deal with conflict?" or "how do you prioritize your T&S tasks?")
I guess my issue is that they dragged me through the entire process and seemingly got my hopes up only to reject me with similar policy questions and standard interview questions when I was so close - and it seems that this happens often to other candidates too. My advice to Discord, perhaps vet candidates more strongly and sooner in the process so that they don't get their hopes up and feel like they wasted their time. Because I'm not gonna lie, I thought I had it in the bag because I had gotten so far and had prepared and worked so hard and I was absolutely devastated to find out I didn't get the position.
The cherry on top of this all is that, when I emailed the woman from HR to discuss what went wrong and how I can improve for future interviews, I got ghosted.
Questions d'entretien [1]
Question 1
Last round interview session centered around "server name" policies, big picture tech and policy questions

The interview process for this role was consistent with the structure that other reviewers have outlined. There was an initial phone screen, a take home test, a second phone call where I discussed the take home test with a T&S team member, and a final round, a lengthy "on-site" which is currently virtual on Discord. The final round interviews had a strong emphasis on company values and other soft skills. It's clear that Discord puts a ton of effort into ensuring that people are not only suited for the role but also a genuinely good fit for the rest of company.

Question 1
I was asked how I would prioritize responding to a few different types of reported harm (harassment, distributing game cheats, etc.), which included factors like how many people were in a reported community or involved in a particular activity.

The interview process consists of an initial phone call screening with a recruiter and a take-home test. If you pass the take-home test, you speak with a member of the Trust & Safety team.
The process is a bit flawed and does not necessarily reflect best practices. You are not provided with enough resources to confidently answer the take-home test that reflects their internal policies (which are not shared with you). I was told by the recruiter that I was the only person that they had interviewed with formal trust & safety experience, only to be told they would not be moving forward with my candidacy. As someone with years of T&S experience, this came as a shock.
My recommendation is that, if you have worked in T&S, Discord may not be the place you want to invest time and energy. It is clear from the interview process that they do not necessarily care about T&S experience and do not value it as a part of their hiring process.

First a 15 phone interview with HR about your background then a take-home test then a follow-up interview for an hour about that test. Then a remote on-site interview. Communication took very long with oftentimes more than a week between the end of an interview and communication on their part.
