      Entretien

I applied online after hearing about openings on the radio. I applied to multiple positions that interested me. I was contact by HR a week later becuase one of the positions matched my experience. I had a phone screen with HR. Later that same week I had a confrence call with the Manager of the area and future coworkers. I was contact the next day to fly out to meet them the next week. I met with the same group of people, plus a few more (~8 person pannel) in a more relaxed interview where each person had a few questions. I also talked with the director for about 30 minutes about why I wanted to work here, what I expected, etc. I took this time to ask where he saw the department going. I then was taken on a tour of the manufacturing floor. A week after the onsite interview I started the final phase. There was a drug test, personality test, and throrugh background and personal refrence test. This part was the most frustrating, as there were phases and deadlines for each phase to complete. I received an offer 2 weeks after that. The wage offer was firm, but for those looking to negotiate, other items can be negotiated, like amount of vacation you start with (default is 0) and how much exta time off you get (default is around 2 weeks). My first day was ~2 months after the process started.

Very straight forward, was not nervous at all. The panel was very engaging, and drew on their own experiences when explaining things. They asked real questions and gave me immediate feedback.

I had a phone interview with a hiring manager which lasted for 30 minutes. I got scheduled to come in for an in-person interview about two weeks after. Everyone there was very friendly and polite, the interview was a bit difficult at times but the questions they asked were fair.

Got a screen call asking if I was still looking for a position, and they said they have an emergent opening for a position where I would have the same exact responsibilities as my current job (which wasn't all that great to begin with). Nevertheless, I still agreed, and had a phone interview with the manager which was more of an informal talk, where we discussed what both of us are looking for, and what I do, and how I can be a great asset at the company. They wanted to proceed with me, so they flew me out to San Diego where I had an interview with the manager and one of their principle engineers. This was more formal, asking questions about what I actually do, specific examples, STAR questions, etc. nothing technical. I was told they wanted to make me an offer, but asked for references first. That process took a while on their end; They gave me a formal offer, but negged on relocation, which was crucial to me. They wouldn't negotiate on salary either so I turned it down. Took a while to hear from HR consistently.
