This position has been up for over four months, so it seems they either want a candidate that doesn’t exist or they don’t know what they want at all.
I applied to the first posting without any follow up. The second time I applied, I was contacted by a recruiter and set up a phone call. That went well and then had a phone call with the lead web developer/hiring manager. I was then told to complete an entire Wordpress installation (theme and admin side) for a small landing page Indeed had designed. It took up about 15 hours of my personal time. I used Advanced Custom Fields plugin for the custom fields and Bootstrap as the front-end framework. I customized and completed the assignment to perfectly reflect the design they sent. They asked for me to send them the files. They liked it and I was then invited for a three hour, on-site interview with the dev team.
By this point, it was about three months since I had originally applied. The hiring manager told me he “really liked” my project during the interview. Took over two weeks for the recruiter to get back to me after my interview and even then I had to send multiple follow up emails to get an answer. They told me I didn’t have enough Wordpress experience and went with someone else that interviewed around the same time I did. I have 4+ years experience in Wordpress and the job description is only asking for two.
They then reposted the position on Indeed and Glassdoor. I emailed the recruiter asking if there was a reason the position was reposted and I never got a reply. Seems they didn’t even hire another candidate. Being lied to is worse than being rejected and that’s exactly what they did.
It was an absolute waste of time and has turned me off to even wanting to work at Indeed.
If you end up interviewing with them for this position and they ask you to complete their Wordpress assessment, make sure to ask for compensation or some type of stipend so you don’t waste your time due to their indecisiveness.
