I applied online and it took a few weeks for them to email me back, but when they did get back to me it was an invitation for me to schedule an interview for the upcoming week. I followed the link in the email and scheduled an appointment at one of the available times. I went into my interview wearing all black - not a necessity, but I hear it makes a good impression - with two copies of my resume. I didn't need them, no one asked for them, but I still felt more confident having them on my person. I got there about 25 minutes before my scheduled time and waited with two other people until a very nice woman came and brought me back into a small room to begin the interview. The first thing she asked me was why Macy's, to which I told her that I just loved the store and I was very familiar with it and the merchandise it sold. She then handed me the generic BIC pen she had been using and told me to sell it to her. I fumbled a little there because I was not expecting that at all, and it took me a while to flub through trying to sell her a two cent pen. We got through that, and she asked me what I'd do if I saw a coworker stealing money from their register, and I told her I would tell the manager. She said she loved that and that the only acceptable answer would be what I said or calling security. Once we got through those three questions, she asked me about my availability and then immediately offered me the position for $8.00/hr. Not bad, considering I've never been employed before!
