I had a very disappointing experience interviewing for Pfizer’s M&A summer internship. The interviewers came across as unfriendly and visibly disengaged, as if the interview were an inconvenience rather than a two-way conversation. There was little effort to build rapport or connect on a human level, and the tone felt cold and transactional throughout.
This was especially surprising and concerning given that Pfizer is a healthcare company, where empathy, curiosity, and human connection should be core values. The lack of basic engagement made it difficult to feel excited about the role or the team, and it reflected poorly on the candidate experience overall.
