      Entretien

Interviewed with a headhunting firm (this was a retained search), then a full day of interviewing onsite. The interview was very strange and it didn't feel like an actual interview. More like the host was going through the motions. It began with a one hour presentation (45 min. with 15 min. for questions). The projection system did not work properly so about 10 min. was wasted while waiting for the IT department to fix it. The host walked in late to the presentation, sat in the back, and did not come up afterwards to introduce himself. The remainder of the day consisted of individual interviews, some with two people present, due to the number of people that they apparently needed to fit in. Everyone had a 4 page packet with them that they used for asking questions and for writing down my answers. The questions were mostly straightforward, but there were a few ones like "If you could be any animal you wanted to be, which would you choose, and why?" There were also some questions that didn't appear to apply to the job at all and when I asked questions to clarify, I got the response "please, please, please just give us something to put in this box!!" I very much got the impression that someone (either HR or more likely the host/hiring manager) was putting a lot of pressure on the interviewers to fill in every square inch of space in every response box on the forms. The interview felt very political and in the end, did not receive an offer. I found out who did eventually get the offer and it was someone with a history of job hopping, In this specific case, I knew someone who used to work with the individual who got the job and we agreed there appeared to be some kind of "old boys club" thing going on. The environment is mostly male and the person who got the job was male. Even though I came in through a headhunter doing a retained search, it never felt like a real interview,. I think I was being brought in because they had to make it look like they were trying to hire women, when in fact they weren't really interested in doing so. I ended up getting a Director level position elsewhere. Since then I've stopped using Pfizer products because the interview experience was so bad.
