I applied online seeing the application on their website on July.Followed by that I was invited for a initial call with an HR around August First week. Followed by that I was invited for a life story interview. This was an interesting round though. They describe the process in their website . After that I was invited for a pair programming round with their developeNow the coding round was a very easy problem and candidate could select the language. I solved the problem in first 20-25 minutes . After that the interviewer seemed friendly and we talked about the work at shopify.
There was not update from shopify. After two followup mails they sent a mail with a smaller group of people whose experience was a closer match to what the team needs right now. Therefore, we won't be inviting you for further interviews at this time.
Here is what I find disappointing
- Very slow response from the HR
- Even after really solving the programming challenge they decided not to proceed with out give much reason.
- Had their developer did not find me impressive, He could have winded it up after letting me finish my challenge
I passed LRU cache coding in first interview
I had four more interview.
1. pair coding again LRU cache I did what I did in previous one
2. system design I desinged staff level architectire
3. Technical deep dive I explained my current technical structure
4. life story he asked what we talked first screening
I got rejected .
Important part All I had interview was native speaker. None has accent.

I recently completed the interview process at Shopify, which spanned about three weeks. The stages included an initial online cognitive assessment and a pair programming round, followed by a virtual onsite featuring a second pair programming session, a technical deep dive, system design, and a "life story" interview.
Overall, it was an excellent experience. The interviewers were professional and highly engaged throughout. I found the technical problems to be very practical, and notably, the use of AI coding tools was encouraged during the pairing sessions. While the system design requirements were quite lengthy, the complexity was manageable as long as you remain calm, think out loud, and clarify expectations early on.
