I recently went through the interview process for a barista/cashier role at Starbucks, and it was pretty straightforward. First, I applied online through their website. Then, I had a phone screening where they asked a few basic questions about my experience and availability.

Entretien
The interview was pretty easy and straightforward. They were willing to train me in areas I needed. The interviewer was friendly and open to hearing my strengths. She put me at ease when I got there by being warm and friendly.
Inconsistent and not transparent. Very vague and not sharing details of the role or pay rate. Odd questions that didn’t have to do with the role but the person themselves was nice.

The Starbucks barista interview process is usually casual, conversational, and focused heavily on customer service and personality rather than coffee experience. After applying online, candidates are often contacted by a store manager for a short in-person interview at the café. The interview typically lasts 20–45 minutes and includes questions about teamwork, handling busy environments, customer service, availability, and why you want to work at Starbucks. Managers mainly look for friendly, reliable, and adaptable candidates who can work well under pressure and create positive customer interactions. Some locations may conduct a second interview, but many hire after just one meeting, followed by onboarding and barista training.
