All through zoom, met with two Senior Scientists, a Principle Scientist and lastly a lab technician. While most asked conceptual questions, namely about how I thought I could apply my knowledge to their team, the Principle Scientist quizzed me on trivia about the technologies and techniques. Said I wasn't an expert and didn't know, lol. Having a good internet connection is key, cause I definitely talked, and the interviewer missed most of it, lol.

Applied online and was contacted 5 weeks later for a virtual recruiter screen. Standard HR questions and I felt that the recruiter was smug and a bit condescending. Second round was the hiring manager interview that took place onsite 7 business days after. The interview felt conversational and positive, although the hiring manager's expectations of the role did not match the job requirements on the ad. Felt that I had a high chance of moving to the third round but I was rejected two weeks after.

Met with recruiter for Scientist III position based in Middleton, WI. Standard interview, walking the recruiter through experiences in CV. Recruiter asked what desired salary was (over 100K, PhD level applicant w/ experience), they stated only paying 80-85K. Extremely low considering size of Thermofisher and in comparison to other Wisconsin pharma/bio-tech companies.

Applied online and heard back from a recruiter a week later who set up an initial phone screen. From that call she reached out to the hiring manager of the position to set up interviews. I had 4 separate 30-minute interviews with the managers I would be working under (each interviewer told me about them and their role, explained what my role would be and asked some typical interview questions). Everyone I met with was very nice and answered any questions I had. The next day I was contacted by my recruiter telling me they were going to be extending me an offer, but it takes a few days for HR approvals and everything (I've never been kept in the loop like that before), a few days later I got the call with my offer. Asked if salary was negotiable, my recruiter went back to the hiring team and HR to see what she could do, 2 days later I received their counter offer. Everyone was very nice, professional, and helpful! One of the best interview experiences I have had!
