Initially thought it was a waste of time writing up a review about my experience, however, upon reading the interview of other people, I realised there was this common trend.
1. Phone Interview
2. F2F culture interview
3. Sales Role Play
The interview process was okay overall. The recruiter was very nice and transparent throughout the earlier part of the process and progressed me very efficiently. The phone interview was what you would expect, very general questions with the aim to get to know you and to determine whether you're a right fit for the culture.
The face to face interview was where it was very interesting. I arrived midday in the Uber office. It was a very relaxed and chill office and certainly a huge selling point for candidates. The reception and security were very courteous and told me that she will be with me shortly. Just for context, I arrived 15 minutes earlier as per what was recommended. I waited for quite some time, around about 20 to 30 minutes on the hiring manager to arrive.
When she finally arrived, we just got right into it. Throughout the interview process, I personally found it went okay, though I did note she was very assertive when asking and guiding the questions. So for instance, at the end of the conversation when it was time for me to start asking her questions, I stumbled asking her about the industry because of certain circumstances. In the brief second of thinking of another industry related question, she immediately asked me "Why don't you ask me more about the role?". When the interview ended, she mentioned the recruiter will get back to me within 2 business days.
Now I have to admit, it was not my best performance, so I'm confident she was objective in her decision, however, it was what followed thereafter which made this quite a frustrating experience. Put simply, I waited for about 2 months to get an official decision and general feedback. Now, it's fair game if you mention that you don't provide feedback or results, but in this case, you set the expectation of doing so. The core feedback was completely contrary to what was discussed and agreed upon during the interview. I felt disrespected during this interview process by the hiring manager.
If it weren't for brand equity, I would not recommend even considering to interview here as compensation is well bellow industry average.
