Entretien pour Systems Programmer - Information Systems Department

      Candidat à l'entretien anonyme

      Offre refusée
      Expérience neutre
      Entretien facile

      Candidature

J'ai postulé via un établissement d'enseignement supérieur ou universitaire. Le processus a pris 2 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Walmart (Bentonville, AR) en nov. 2011

      Entretien

Talked to them at a job fair, and started with a 2 person, in person interview at my university where they were recruiting from. Standard HR based questions, no technical questions at all (red flag # 1). All the questions were geared to check how you felt about outsourcing, offshore projects and lots of red tape style procedures, (red flag # 2). They flew me into Bentonville, AR for the interview "Event". Very professional interview system at their office, handled by several HR people. The Event is a series of information sessions that tell you about the company and area and also includes a final interview with one, hiring manager. Same questions as from the initial interview with resume review questions tossed in, very easy. They explain the difference between San Francisco, CA and Bentonville, AR and state that the, about 50,000 offer they are making is the same as a 90,000 offer in CA. They were evasive about the standard 45 hr work week and countered the questions with their relocation bonus and employee discount and some vague bonus you will receive if Walmart meets some metric that is not described (red flag # 3). Took tour of the area and they offered a brown bag lunch. During the tour of the offices there is one section of about 1000+ small, desks/work areas? Hard to describe but this is where MANY of Indian "contractors" sit. The tour guide HR person goes out of the way to emphasize that this is where "other" people work and not where you will be working (red flag # 4). After lunch there is one final presentation where Walmart makes the pitch that it is really a technology company as much as a retailer and you are (almost to the point of begged) asked to join Walmart. Event over and flown back home. Several days later the official offer is sent with a request to get a drug test that day from a local (to you) testing center.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

There were no difficult questions, they were all about tell me a time were you took the lead on.... On your resume it says .... tell me about ...., Can you take the lead working on a project with other (more experienced coworkers, Offshore workers, ....). You should be able to pass this interview with nothing more that canned responses from your resume, and canned responses from standard HR questions you can find online. The only difficult question is why would you want to work for Walmart, and they do not ask that one...
