I started to interview at Wayfair (Berlin) in Oct 2021. All rounds were conducted remotely. Unfortunately I was ghosted!! Nevertheless, below is how it all went:
* Round 1 was with HR, general intro, role discussion & my motivation to join. I did not hear back from the recruiter, hence I reached out after 2 weeks & got an immediate response to schedule next round.
* Round 2 was with Hiring Manager 9-10 days later. The recruiter did NOT share anything regarding what is the structure. Anyway, the interview was very typical where I was asked motivation to join, how I work with engineers, what tools I use, a project walkthrough etc. <<I had to step out for 4-5 mins to collect a package right in the middle of interview, and interviewer was very empathetic about this and gave me extra 5 mins>>
* 3 days later I heard back from recruiter that I was shortlisted for next rounds. Immediately candidate experience associate sent me the tentative schedule & interview invites came 2 days before the 1st interview, subject to my follow-up.
* Round 3 was Portfolio review with one of the senior designers. We discussed the project in depth and interviewer asked me Qs regarding all phases covered in my project.
* Round 4 was with an interviewer from cross functional team where I was asked questions like how I worked in different teams, problems I faced, role expectations etc.
* After Round 3 & 4, candidate experience associate emailed me that Round 5 will be cancelled at the moment with no explanation. It was supposed to be Whiteboard with 2 panelists. I spent 2 days to just prepare for this round, damn!
* Round 6 was with the interviewer in engineering team, mostly questions were around designer-engineer collaboration.
There was radio silence for a week, then I had to the job of a recruiter and ask if there was any update. But I was GHOSTED!!! No update/feedback received.
Dear Wayfair recruiting team, please don’t be sloppy, it’s the job of a recruiter to share updates or feedback with the candidate. Maybe it’s time to redefine those People Principles.
