EBA’s report on ESG prudential treatment : foundations of the future framework? Early october 2023, the European Banking Authority (EBA) published a follow-up report on the role of environmental and social risks in the prudential framework following a Discussion Paper published in May 2022. The report integrates feedback from the financial industry and the findings of the High-Level Expert Group on Sustainable Finance and the European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB)2. In this article, we analyse the EBA’s recommendations, classifying actions according to complexity and time-horizon. Highlight main short-term actions and outlines key principles confirmed in EBA’s follow-up report on the role of environmental and social risks in the prudential framework.
