Five years ago, Grede became an independent company. 💪 Thank you to Gamut Capital Management for enabling us to be an industry leader in highly engineered iron castings for light vehicles, commercial trucks, and industrial equipment. To celebrate, we asked six team members to share what they're most proud of in the last five years. Hear their answers in this short video. Thank you to all our team members and partners for everything you do for Grede.
Tis the season for giving! 🎁🎄 At their local Salvation Army, Grede New Castle in Indiana participated in adopting families for the holidays. They bought presents for ten children in need and got everything on their wish lists and more. Additionally, Grede Browntown in Wisconsin donated over 500 toys and food items to the Blackhawk Garden Food Pantry and Santa's Elves of Lafayette County. At Grede, we value corporate citizenship because we recognize that giving back to our communities strengthens the bonds between us and fosters a spirit of generosity and compassion. By supporting those in need, we can make an impact and inspire others to do the same. 💙
Grede is committed to providing our customers with high-quality iron castings while keeping our team members safe. ✅ Recently, Grede St. Cloud in Minnesota conducted a successful Layered Process Audit (LPA) training with the help of Net Results Inc. and Grede’s corporate Quality department. We plan to roll out this updated process to all plants starting in Q1 to create a consistent process throughout our facilities and ensure we're meeting our high standards for safety and quality. We funded this initial training through our partnership with St. Cloud State University, with a grant they received from the state of Minnesota. During the initial training in Grede St. Cloud, plant and production leaders participated in the three-day event, which was tied to failure mode and effects analysis, control plans, and standard work instructions to strengthen the LPA audit checklists and processes.
Grede has been named a Top Workplace by the Detroit Free Press! 🏆🎉 Grede was listed as #23 out of 101 companies on the Small Michigan Top Workplace list. Being named a Top Workplace is a big deal — only 198 companies made this year’s list. The award is based solely on the feedback our Detroit-based team members provided through a survey administered by Energage - a partner that helps organizations turn employee feedback into business intelligence and credible employer recognition through Top Workplaces. It may be hard to believe since fall isn’t over yet, but we’re hiring summer interns! 🌞 In this video, three interns from last summer explain what surprised them during their internship at Grede. Grede’s internship program provides all sorts of opportunities for students to apply their education in the real world. Grede’s culture is special and it’s clear when you hear from our people why they like working at Grede. Thank you, to Luke Mills and Cassius Sampson from New Castle, Indiana, and Will Almond from Biscoe, North Carolina, for sharing their stories with us. Interested in growing with Grede? Several of our plants held Veterans Day celebrations. Here are photos of our military veterans from Brewton, Alabama, and Iron Mountain, Michigan, and some goodies from their celebrations. Thank you again to our veterans for serving our country. Because of heroes like you, our country stands strong and is filled with promise and hope.
Congratulations to Grede Iron Mountain for achieving two years without a lost time incident! ⭐⭐ Grede Iron Mountain in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan achieved this safety milestone on Aug. 19, 2024. They celebrated last week with an all-employee luncheon and provided all team members with a special hoodie. They were also recognized with the Safe Year Award by the American Foundry Society in early October. This is our second foundry to reach this achievement this year! Grede New Castle also continues their safety streak of two years without a lost time incident. Our safety culture is paramount. This milestone is an excellent example of how we demonstrate our most important value of safety as a company.
Grede had the pleasure of hosting the foundry tour and attending the Ductile Iron Society's Annual Fall Conference over the past three days in St. Cloud, Minnesota. During the conference, 100 DIS members attended various committee meetings, panels, and technical sessions about thermal analysis, clay activation, ductile iron treatment, and more. The meeting ended with a tour of Grede St. Cloud. Our very own Robb Schmidt, Metallurgical Engineer from St. Cloud, spoke on a panel about ductile iron treatment methods. Robb did a fantastic job discussing the Fischer Converter case study. Did you know that Grede is the biggest ductile iron casting provider in the U.S.? We're proud to be part of the Ductile Iron Society and were happy to host this year's foundry tour. Thank you, DIS, for organizing another excellent conference. We're looking forward to the next meeting.
Have you met Mo the Metal Man? He got dressed up for Halloween! 🌭😆 What do you think his next costume will be? Share your guesses in the comments! Mo the Metal Man is entirely made of iron casting parts from our foundry in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. He was created for our annual float in the Reedsburg Butterfest Parade. We decided to dress him up for Halloween this year, and he will wear a different costume each week! Stay tuned for more updates as his costume changes! 🎃
