Je travaille chez Collette à plein temps

    Avantages

Great healthcare, friendly coworkers, paid vacation/sick/personal time, opportunity to travel on a guided tour maximum 1 time per year based on lottery system, on site wellness center/gym, 4 hours paid volunteer time a month, bonus (depending on business success) each year

    Inconvénients

Below average pay for industry, very hard to move from one department to another without experience in that specific department, not a lot of opportunity to advance as they tend to hire outside instead of promote from within (even though they say they do), parking is limited near buildings - have to cross busy street to get to main parking lot and that's usually full.

    Conseils à la direction

Take notice when people give their notice/quit and identify if they are leaving due to lack of salary incentive or lack of growth opportunities, review the pay grades for all levels and don't consider healthcare/paid vacation/sick/personal time as "cash compensation" when it's standard at most companies by law

    Avantages

NEPOTISM if you are a friend or family member of the owners

    Inconvénients

One word NEPOTISM. THIS IS NOT YOUR AVERAGE COMPANY it is family owned. What that means is no matter how hard YOU work, how long it has taken YOU to become qualified, friends and family of the owners will always come out on top of you. It doesn’t even matter if they have the skill or not. For anyone who has not been in their career for more than 5 years, they will give you a starting salary at the low end of the market range, and if you have more experience they will pay you lower than surrounding companies. When you ask about it, they act as though you will be learning so much and have SO many opportunities for development allowing you to settle for the low pay because honestly who doesn’t want to be given development opportunities. Fast forward just a few months in, you will realize you got swindled. Not only are you now making pennies, you find there are no opportunities because your manager has no idea what they are doing. This is because they were promoted way too soon as they are friends or family of the owners and you my friend, are stuck in that position for 18 months, which is the required length of time in your current position before you can even consider moving to another. Even if you make it to 18 months, if a family member or friend wants THAT position you will be overlooked because recruiters PLACE family and friends. EVERYONE is under the families thumb and does exactly what they want. There are no business ethics or fairness. Why you ask? If you owned a company, wouldn’t you employ your family and friends because they are nice? Wouldn’t you halt any employment or business decision you were not a part of? If you solely favor YOUR FAMILY & YOU’RE FRIENDS, why give opportunities to others that have actually worked hard?
This place has a serious issue with their employees. I would not recommend taking a step back in your career or dealing with this type of work environment.

    Conseils à la direction

Keep hiring and promoting your friends and family until they are all that the company is made of

Je travaille chez Collette à plein temps

    Avantages

Onsite Gym, Casual Dress code, start time is 9am but you can come earlier and leave early if you manager agrees

    Inconvénients

Family run means only family or people who they take to get promoted. You can advance with a mediocre skill-set, as long as you are friends with the family or other leaders. There is no one to give this feedback to because the very people who you can go to do nothing with the information because the family does not value it. The family is not going to reprimand their friends or their own family members so nothing will result in disclosing your concerns of unfair treatment or whatever the issue is

    Conseils à la direction

Everyone is leaving for a reason

J'ai travaillé chez Collette en Contrat Permanent (Pendant plus de 5 ans)

    Avantages

You get to travel... sometimes. If you're chosen (which is basically given upon favoritism or if you are sales.

    Inconvénients

    Where to begin...

    - Terrible upper management. They have 0 idea what they are doing
    - Promote family and best friends, that is basically it. Adding 0's to their paychecks and that is all.
    - Don't listen to advice or care about their employees unless they are family (as stated) or are one of the favs. Leads to poor morale.
    - HR is a complete mess.
    - Cheapest. Company. Ever. Talk about being underpaid.

These are just a few things, but there are so many more. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away as possible. If you are unfortunate enough to have gotten a job here recently, give it a year. You'll soon understand.

    Conseils à la direction

LISTEN TO YOUR EMPLOYEES! Value the amazing ones which there are a lot of if you took the time to pay attention to anyone outside your family. Open your eyes to what people should actually be making in terms of salary as well, it's such a poorly run company that it is just embarrassing.

    Avantages

There are many great people who work here. The company has an on site gym that is pretty nice if you can use it. They also sell travel, so you are pushing a great product and get to sell someone their dream vacation.

    Inconvénients

Be prepared to dedicate much of your own time to your work at Collette in addition to your regular work day. Lots of favoritism with the management teams too and if you are not a favorite your hard work will go unnoticed.

    Conseils à la direction

    Stop the favoritism.

Je travaille chez Collette à plein temps (Pendant plus de 10 ans)

    Avantages

Most coworkers are awesome, friendly, helpful. On site gym is a great perk. I hear health benefits are great (never needed them have them with my partner). Love the open door policy with most upper management.

    Inconvénients

Practice what you preach. If you are not part of an “in crowd” you have no chance. Many managers/directors want “yes” people and not people with experience and knowledge so they can take all the credit. Just because you are family or friend of family doesn’t make you automatically qualified for a management role.

    Conseils à la direction

Stop being all about the money and look at why so many talented people keep leaving. Pay better.

Je travaille chez Collette à plein temps (Pendant plus de 5 ans)

    Avantages

Collette's culture is the best I've ever experienced! Everyone is friendly, willing to go the extra mile, and is really invested in its employees. It's difficult to feel included among 600 employees, but Collette really works to get to know each employee as a person rather than a number. I feel encouraged on most days. The benefits are outstanding-- when it comes to the total package (pay, health benefits, and time off) they take care of employees.

    Inconvénients

Like most businesses, company direction can change as a result of the numbers, which means being nimble and needing to adapt quickly.

Je travaille chez Collette à plein temps (Plus d'un an)

    Avantages

Great people, convenient commute off the highway, gym if you are allowed to use it...

    Inconvénients

Sad to say working here for the past 2 years has uncovered more negatives than positives...

Collette is supposed to be a family company but they only offer 4 weeks of maturnity where the pay is only 66% of your original pay.

The pay at this company in general is terrible...my entry level job pays as much as the 2x higher title at Collette.

That's if you're even able to get a salary position...I've found most are hourly, which is very sad.

    Conseils à la direction

Since this is a $300+ million/year "debt free" company how about spreading the baseline wealth across your employees.

    Inconvénients

low pay for all the hard work - some people who have been there forever and dont pull their weight dont get reprimanded and makes others work harder
