2 months after I had applied, I was contacted by HR for an initial interview. The second or third question they asked was about my salary expectations (which were relatively modest for the market). I never heard back from them after that interview. I strongly suspect that they were trying to get my take on salary expectations for my market so they could validate their salary offer to someone else. I was surprised by this approach from such a well-known employer.
