      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 4 jours. J'ai passé un entretien chez Amazon (Seattle, WA) en mai 2016

      Entretien

Two rounds of phone interviews and one in-person interview. The first phone interview asked about some of my basic qualifications and informed me more about the position. The second phone interview asked about some deeper more scenario based questions. The final in-person interview consisted of 4 individuals chatting with me for 45 min. each and they were spread across multiple departments. In addition for the final interview, I had to prepare a mock briefing document for a possible project I would have gotten in the position.

      Entretien

After I sent in my resume, they contacted me for a 45 minute phone screen. A couple days later, I was invited for a final round interview in Seattle. This consisted of 4 45 minute interviews with 4 different recruiters. I was also given a week before the interview to complete a case study, which was an example of the kind of work I would be doing (market research). The case study and final round interviews were straightforward and everyone who interviewed me was extremely nice and friendly. I had a great in-person experience. In scheduling the interviews, the recruiter in contact with me took a long time to schedule both the phone screen and final round and was not very prompt with updates, sometimes giving me the wrong details. This was a first red flag. After the final round interviews, I waited about a week before I got a call from another recruiter who told me they needed to call me so I could talk to another recruiting team that didn't interview me in person. They said it was "not an interview" but a chance for the team to get to know me. They also told me they'd call me later that same day but called me 30 minutes late to tell me they had to postpone the call until after the weekend. At this point, I was a bit upset at having to jump through another hoop (after traveling to Seattle and sitting through 4 interviews) before they made a decision, not to mention the continual lagging and drawn-out process. Not sure why they weren't coordinated enough to schedule in-person interviews with all teams necessary--it was inefficient and dragged on the process. When I had the call, it was definitely an interview--they asked me behavioral questions about experiences on my resume much like the questions I got in the final round interviews. I thought it was extremely misleading for them to tell me it wasn't another interview when it was. In addition, I thought it was very confusing for them to not have told me about the existence of this team before this surprise interview. This is a new position so I know it's probably difficult for them to get the process right but it reflects awfully on Amazon when the recruiters for a recruiting position are not transparent, unresponsive, and drag on the interview process. Finally, I got an e-mail asking to schedule a call to discuss the "outcome." They scheduled a call for 8am the next day, and at this point I was really expecting a job offer, because who schedules a call with someone at 8am to spend one minute on the phone saying "we decided to go with another candidate"??? (That is exactly what happened). I found this tactless and disrespectful of my time (lagging the call until the next day when she could've just e-mailed me or left a voicemail). I'm still kind of shocked at how strange and frustrating my process was and would hope that Amazon sorts this out because it makes their recruiting team look terrible.
