I recently received an email from a company informing me that I was no longer being considered for a role I had applied for and interviewed for. It's not a big deal normally; it happens all the time when you're looking for work. However, what's particularly frustrating is that about a month and a half to two months ago, I received a phone call from them stating that I had secured the job. The only issue was I didn't have a start date or any onboarding paperwork to fill out. They assured me they were working on it. Two weeks passed, and I decided to follow up with them to inquire about the status. The response I received was that they were still working on finalizing everything. Feeling mildly frustrated, I resumed a half-hearted effort to search for other job opportunities. Another week elapsed, and I received an email from their HR department informing me that I didn't get the position, but the hiring manager expressed interest in bringing me on board and promised to keep me updated. I reached out to the person who interviewed me via text, and to my surprise, they responded that they had no idea what the HR department was referring to. At this point, I resumed actively applying for jobs elsewhere. Then, a few weeks later, I received another email stating that I was no longer being considered for the "[not available] - position." The most frustrating aspect of this situation is that I had informed them of my last day at my previous job (I was being laid off), and they had assured me they could get me in by that time. Despite this, their hiring process fell through, resulting in lost time and opportunities for me.
