J'ai postulé en personne. Le processus a pris 1 jour. J'ai passé un entretien chez Microsoft en oct. 2013
Entretien
Campus recruiter selected and set up a 30 minute interview with a senior software developer.
If you are not a programmer then don't apply to Microsoft. When they say they are recruiting for talent they meant only computer science talent.
Questions d'entretien [1]
Question 1
The interviewer is a seasoned software developer. He asked me to come up with an algorithm for searching Palindrome after I told him in the very beginning that programming is not my strong suit. I am a PhD in mechanical engineering, and I have extensive communication, networking and managing skills from co-founding startup companies to project management. But he seemed less interested in these and only wanted to know how much I can code. In the previous interview workshop, he said Microsoft is interested in communication, customer focus, analytical skills and thinking process. And Microsoft is not looking for a specific skill such as coding. But during the interview, it is really just programming skill he is looking for. So If you are not a programmer, please don't waste your time.

Not a great experience with interviews taking 1 month to complete. Despite ongoing communication, the role did not move forward, reportedly due to approval constraints. The overall experience highlights a gap in aligning internal approvals before progressing candidates to advanced stages.
Clearer communication and better alignment internally would improve the candidate experience

Questions on Project Experience and Thought process

Entretien
The interview process is grueling and I get why people do it but its more awareness, know that you'll spend an entire day and meet several people, so it's important to be mentally and physically prepared. Eat a good breakfast but not heavy stay hydrated. This was just for a PM role it's their standard process I imagine executive level is another thing altogether

Question 1
Tell me about a time you didn't agree with someone who was a stakeholder on your project and how did you handle that?
Very smooth, thoughtful interview process. It showed the recruiter really cared what I had to contribute and asked great followup clarifying questions. Would definitely recommend everyone try an interview with them even if it doesn't pan out.
