      Entretien

I applied online after being tipped off by a friend about an open position. This was a position involving using software distribution infrastructure to distribute short ads to retail advertising stations like large displays and iPads. I had previously worked in software packaging and distribution at Nike, albeit in another role and department. The job sounded like something I could do in my sleep. My friend warned me that the entire department had just been fired and so the new people were starting with no knowledge of what they were doing. I had interfaced with some of the new staff on a project and it was clear to me most of the people had no idea what they were doing and simply relied on people in other departments to do their jobs for them. I got an e-mail within a day, and set up a phone call that week. I spoke with the hiring manager. He said a lot of completely ridiculous techno-marketing-babble about "cross matrix multi-functional enablementability," when he could have just said "we push 30 second video clips to retail stores." We set up an on-site interview and I reviewed the SMART points they cover in their behavioral interviews. The group interview involved only one other person. He was someone I had worked with many times on past projects, and as far as I can tell he is one of those folks at Nike who does no actual work besides avoiding responsibility for anything and holding other people accountable for his decisions. He spent the whole interview e-mailing on his computer and scowling at me. The hiring manager mostly focused on how my skills with one software distribution platform would not translate to the specific one they were using. It seemed he knew very little of what his team actually did.

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

You don't seem very excited or inspired by managing the software that pushes 30 second video clips to displays and iPads in stores. Why would we want you in the position? Convince us.
