I applied online through Glassdoor and was contacted by the hiring manager. We had about a 20-30 minute phone conversation and she asked me to come in for a 1:1 interview with her, a team lead and to meet the team. I came in to interview that next Monday evening and met with the team lead and shadowed another recruiter for a little bit. I was there for about an hour total.

Scheduled a phone interview and it started out well but the recruiter didn't have a lot of experience and was a little condescending. We spoke for about an hour total and the last 10 minutes she said she had to ask some standard HR questions. She asked if I had a college degree and I said yes then she asked if I got a 3.0 gpa or higher. I told her that I graduated over 15 years ago and I believe it was close to 3.0 gpa but I would have to check. Then the Paycom recruiter told me that Pay Com doesn’t hire anyone unless they have a gpa of 3.0 or higher…. I was very surprised by that but we continued. We started going through my resume and at one point in my career I was unemployed for 3 months during the great recession when the company I worked for went bankrupted and closed. It took a little bit of time during that period to find a new position. Then Pay Com recruiter stated that they don’t hire people that have been unemployed for more than 60 days…. Then I told her, this is probably something you should start out with in an interview not something you bring up after an hour of conversation. I thanked her for her time and hung up.
