Phone interview with hiring manager. 2 weeks later was contacted for follow-up interviews with manager and team member. Poor communication and slow response time when I provided my interview availability. Quite frustrating. Eventually responded and agreed to a time (after half of my initial time proposals had already passed). Hiring manager did not provide the case study until later that night after I emailed back saying it was never sent to me. Case study was supposed to be 4-6 hours, but it would take significantly longer unless you are extremely familiar with the content. Also had to make a powerpoint presentation. Two virtual 45 minute interviews. I was never given the name of my interviewers and it was clear they were not aware of that. First interview was technical and I had to explain the case study and walk through the presentation. He was alright and provided good feedback. Had good conversation and felt I had satisfied the requirements for the case study. It ran over and I was almost late to my next interview. This one was behavioral. I was required to send in my most recent resume to the hiring manager when I confirmed my interview time, but this interviewer had not received it. Thought this went well too, but of course always areas for improvement. My first interviewer connected with me on LinkedIn afterwards. Received a note the following week from hiring manager saying that they would have an answer in the following week and to let her know if there were any updates on my end. I took this as a good sign. I had received another offer by that point, but would prefer the Vanguard offer. I let her know on Friday. The following Tuesday I received an automated rejection email. After interviewing, completing a case study, and just contacting the hiring manager a few days prior, I was a bit surprised and disappointed that I received a rejection in this way (or at all). I reached out for feedback from the hiring manager, and she said that per company policy, she could not provide anything. In all, the process was quite disorganized and I think it is ridiculous that I had to spend a weekend working on an (unpaid) case study for several hours while also balancing school and TA assignments. I also hoped that after interviewing, I would at least be given the courtesy of a written rejection email.
Questions d'entretien [1]
Question 1
Why Vanguard? Why this position? A time you were a leader? A time you resolved conflict? A time you did something innovative?
Initial hacker rank test. One hour, 10 to 15 questions. 4 basic SQL questions. 1 more intermediate, but ran out of time. The other remaining questions were multiple choice about statistics and hypothesis testing, and also some with basic math.
If you pass hacker rank, it led to a case study interview, but not really about statistics. It aligns with a McKinsey case study type interview, about profit, metrics, is this good or bad, etc...

Not hard, take home tech stack with questions and prompt, answer in presentation style. Questions were typical and interviewers were nice. Overall a good experience and got news back next day
