Thanks to Packaging World for highlighting #BIC’s new #sustainability goals and how we are transforming our approach to using plastic in our products and packaging! The article references our “Writing the Future, Together” Sustainable Development program and how we are driving sustainable innovation through our 4R philosophy of reducing the amount of raw materials used to make our products, including as much recycled or alternative materials as possible, making more refillable products, and improving the recyclability of our products and packaging. As we continue our sustainable development journey, we have committed that 100% of our consumer plastic packaging will be reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2025, and that 50% of our products will be made from non-virgin petroleum plastic by 2030.
Congratulations to the winners of the recent Enactus Nigeria National Competition! As Enactus partners, we are proud to see the students’ creativity and dedication to helping solve real socioeconomic issues and improve the future of their communities around the world. This year’s Enactus Nigeria competition winners launched a project called P’Pal, which helps provide women and girls with hygienic, affordable and environmentally friendly sanitary products. As a part of their project, the team created Nigeria’s first 100% biodegradable, organic and plastic-free sanitary product made from banana fiber, which is 46% more affordable than plastic-based alternatives. The project ultimately led to new job opportunities within the team’s community and affordable access to essential products. We are constantly in awe of these accomplishments and look forward to the Enactus World Cup in October! Learn more about the winning project here: https://youtu.be/ju5Fo2WijX8
The #BIC Corporate Foundation recently partnered with Sport dans la Ville to create an inspiring mural at the Sports Center of Bobigny, France, which BIC helped co-found. The center offers underprivileged youth various sports activities and personal development programs, and the mural is a great reminder of how important it is for children to respect themselves and each other. Thank you to the members of #TeamBIC who volunteered to help paint the mural alongside a local artist and children from the Sports Center! It is always wonderful to see you getting involved in your communities.
In these ever-changing times, #TeamBIC continues taking advantage of innovative opportunities to reach customers and consumers. At the end of 2020, the BIC Germany team did just that by participating in Lyreco Group's first-ever virtual sales conference to raise awareness of BIC products and make new connections from across the region.
After 80 days at sea, Louis Burton has placed third in the Vendee Globe, the world's largest and toughest sailing race to date. BIC was one of the proud sponsors of his boat, Bureau Vallée 2, and our logo on the mainsail has accompanied the skipper for the 45,000 km of this incredible adventure. We have been one of Burton's proud sponsors since 2018 and we look forward to supporting his races through 2025. Since its creation, BIC has worked to improve lives through education. Today, the company announced the latest step in support of that goal: pioneering the first European Environmental Social and Governance Impact Share Buyback Program in partnership with Exane BNP Paribas. The Share Buyback program, launching in 2021, will create value for shareholders and allow BIC to invest more in the BIC Corporate Foundation for Education and the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), the global research center working to reduce poverty. BIC’s contributions will support projects focused on education, including reducing school dropout, promoting soft skills, and reducing inequalities.

We're happy to share that the BIC Corporate Foundation, the BIC UK and Ireland team and Enactus UK have announced the six student groups shortlisted for the third annual BIC Inclusive and Equitable Quality Education Competition. Each year, this competition gives teams of Enactus students an opportunity to pitch education projects that support one of the BIC Corporate Foundation's three pillars: fighting against school dropout, access to education for women and girls, and environmental education. The winning team receives mentorship from BIC team members, as well as seed funding to advance their work. Congratulations to these young changemakers, and thank you to all of our team members supporting their efforts! https://fal.cn/3bWu3
