*** London, British Heart Foundation, London to Brighton Cycle *** Having completed the 40 mile London to Reading bike ride for the British Heart Foundation in March, London employee Gytis Stankevicius took part in the London to Brighton bike ride for the same charity on June 17. Along with over 15,000 others, he cycled 54 miles (86.3 km) from London’s Clapham Common to the Brighton seafront, finishing in an impressive 3 hours and 26 minutes. As well as raising vital funds for cardiovascular research, Gytis said he hoped his participation would help to promote a healthier and more active lifestyle, as a frontline defense against heart disease.
** Singapore, Diversity Week ** As part of the Diversity Week, in the Singapore office, we had an absolutely inspiring talk by Mrs Chris Hortin Tan from Running Hour (http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQKSj) an inclusive running club for people with special needs. Despite only having 5% vision, she could take care of her 2 boys and keeping herself in good shape by exercising regularly participating in marathons and cycling events around the world.
** Zurich, Diversity Week ** Our CEO & CFO in our SCOR office in Switzerland posted his views on their Diversity week. Follow the link to his pulse blog post. "Diversity is a mindset" To foster this attitude, our employees were invited to become more aware of our diverse employee population and to get to know each other better. http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQKS5
** London Office Supporting Walk The Walk Charity ** On the night of May 12, London employee Heather McKay joined around 15,000 others to complete the MoonWalk. A full or half walking marathon through the streets of London at night and several London landmarks, such as the London Eye and HMS Belfast, were lit up in pink in honor of the event ! Walk the Walk is in aid of vital breast cancer causes. All participants, men and women alike, wore bras for the walk :) This year’s MoonWalk has raised over £3.6 million so far. All the money raised goes to the charity Walk the Walk, which has raised more than £125 million over the past 22 years. As for Heather, spurred on by messages of support from family, friends and co-workers she finished the marathon in 8 hours and 40 minutes and said it was a wonderful experience!
