🌍 Partnering for Better Health: Empowering Communities in East Africa 🌟 As part of its “Donations instead of Gifts” initiative, Sartorius is supporting the IMPACT project this year. Run by our long-term partner action medeor e.V., the project is dedicated to improving pharmaceutical knowledge and access to high-quality medicines in rural areas of Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda. In many regions of East Africa, a shortage of trained professionals limits the availability of safe and effective medicines. The IMPACT project tackles these issues by: ✅ Training 120 healthcare workers across 53 facilities. ✅ Enabling 9 master trainers to expand knowledge and skills throughout the region. With this, the project aims to ensure patients receive the right medicines in the right dosage at the right time and empower communities to manage treatments effectively on their own.
The life science group Sartorius closed the first nine months of the fiscal year as expected, with a positive trend in demand and a robust underlying profit margin. “Following the very volatile development caused by the pandemic, the business situation has stabilized. Most customers have largely completed the reduction of their inventories, and demand for consumables business is increasing as a result. In an expert panel at Falling Walls, co-hosted by Sartorius, thought leaders from industry and research discussed the applicability of generative AI in the development of Advanced Therapies. “Generative AI has the potential to transform how medicines are made today. This is a huge opportunity because we are able to analyze and understand biological and molecular data at scale,” said Johan Trygg, Head of Advanced Data Analytics at Sartorius, who participated in the panel. The plenary table was part of the Falling Walls Science Summit, which took place from November 7-9 in Berlin. The scorecard consists of three categories: environmental, social and governance. Sartorius scored particularly well for "strong management practices to address carbon emissions relative to peers, including targets to reduce carbon emissions", "fewer apparent product recalls compared to peers", "governance practices that appear generally well aligned with investor interests", and "evidence of detailed policies on business ethics and corruption". How much startup is in your research? Around thirty PhD students and postdocs were invited to think about this question at a "phd-to-innovator" workshop at the Sartorius Campus in Göttingen. The two-day workshop, organized by Sartorius' partner Young Entrepreneurs in Science, aims to open up new career perspectives for highly qualified young researchers. The curriculum included personal reflection, training in entrepreneurial methods such as design thinking and a Q&A session with role models. At today’s meeting, the Supervisory Board of Sartorius AG appointed Dr. Florian Funck as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and member of the Sartorius Executive Board, effective April 1, 2024. He succeeds Rainer Lehmann, with whom it was agreed in early May 2023 that he would leave the Executive Board at his own request at the end of October 2023. Funck joins the company from his current role as CFO of the Haniel Group.
