Recruiter contacted me (I am an Independent Consultant) about a contract project with Accenture. Recruiter and Account Manager conducted 2 separate phone screens/interviews. Very Professional. All went well. 1 week later, Accenture requested a phone interview which was scheduled for 4:30 pm. I received a call from the Recruiter at 4:15 pm (yes, 15 minutes before the interview), who said that Accenture had just informed him that the position would be filled internally. Outcome: No interview. Recruiter was apologetic about Accenture's cancellation. I recently received a call from a recruiter in NYC with a perm job opportunity at what he described as "the number 1 consulting firm in the world." I asked "Is this position with Accenture?" He said "Oh, God, no... I wouldn't do that to you." Based on online research it seems that Accenture, like most of the top consulting firms, is plagued by work culture problems and high turnover/ "jump ship" rates.
