A person with 3-4 years of experience conducted my interview, even though I have over 6 years of experience. I'm not sure how Amazon expects someone with less experience to adequately assess a more seasoned professional, but I understand that it's their policy. The interview was more challenging than a typical Software Development Engineer (SDE) interview because, in addition to top-notch coding skills, it required strong Linux scripting, troubleshooting, and automation abilities. However, the compensation they offer for this role is less than what they offer for an SDE. This might be a factor in why Amazon has had to make significant layoffs; they have hired individuals who are not well-suited for their roles, and these same individuals are now conducting interviews.
